A single race led was held on the course on the inaugural day of the Trophy of Alicante, the first stage of the Audi MedCup 2009. Alicante served up light winds and the crews of the thirteen TP52 had to before to wait and then, finally, race.

The winners, recovering from a so-so start, was MarazziSailing with Marazzi-Schuemann on board, while the bunch behind were, in order, Matador, Bigamist 7 and Emirates Team New Zealand in front of the 2008 champion Quantum Racing with Terry Hutchinson.

The men of Vasco Vascotto finished ninth, but the Trieste skipper is satisfied. To marry a project like that of the Foundation Milan is a motive of pride for the boys of the Dabliu Sail Project Team.

"We started well", said Vasco Vascotto, Skipper and Tactician of Pisco Sour III. "Those behind benefited from the oscillation of almost 40° and did well. We are happy with the boat, the team is working well, and I am optimistic."

"Today was my baptism at the helm of a TP52 in an official regatta", said Alberto Bolzan, helmsman of Pisco Sour III. "I should say that was positive, even if the wind was the true protagonist, the first race was abandoned and the second undecided. The level of this fleet is Very High, to find me myself on the flank of champions like Dean Barker and Terry Hutchinson is really stimulating for me."
