Overnight leader Filippo Pacinotti aboard Brontolo H/H retained his first place, overall position on Day Two in Porto Ercole, edging out Mauro Mocchegiani's F. Giacomel Audi e-Tron Melges 32 now in second. Both sit at the top of the standings with equal points as two final races are expected on Sunday. Russia's Valentin Zavadnikov aboard Synergy GT holds steadfast in third six points behind, also sharing equal points with fourth place Richard Gorannson on Helly Hansen Inga From Sweden. Japan's Naofumi Kamei on Mamma Aiuto! is currently fifth.

Light breezes did not deter the Race Committee from firing off three more races, ensuring that the sixteen-strong fleet would complete six of the eight-race Porto Ercole edition, resulting in a discard of their worst score thus far.

As the discards went into play, the scoreboard changed dramatically. Kamei's first-race-of-the-day win, then paired with an 11-2, catapulted him into the top five. Hot on his heels was fellow Russian player Pavel Kuznetsov on Tavatuy placing second followed by Zavadnikov.

Mocchegiani grabbed the best move of the day. He completed Day 1 in fifth overall, but thanks to discards going into effect and an average day performance by Pacinotti, he has moved within striking distance of the Porto Ercole edition trophy.
