OKI 24 Hour Race, Lake Pupuke

by Murrays Bay Sailing Club media

The 24 hours race on Lake Pupuke is held each year in Lasers. OKI is sponsor of the event in 2009, on 28th-29th March.

The competitors run down the banks of Lake Pupuke and jump into their boats in a Le Mans style start. Each member can sail for a maximum of three hours before they need to swap over and take a rest for a minimum of one hour. There is a non-stop rotation of sailors for a period of 24 hours.

The team that completes the most number of laps around the course on Lake Pupuke within the 24 hour period wins!
