The title is in reference to a myth. Ariadne is the name of a woman who gives a ball of wool to his lover to help him find his way out of a labyrinth. The Aegian islands do resemble a labyrinth. Similar shores, similar waters but unpredictable winds
Finalement la nui a été conforme aux prévisions. Vent soutenu, mer agitée, il a fallu aux solitaires maintenir fermement la route dans le labyrinthe de la mer Egée. Eclairés par un faible croissant de lune, les reliefs des îles se découpaient vaguement comme une présence inquiétante. Pas de grandes options tactiques pour une flotte resserrée toujours dominée par Francisco Lobato (Roff Tempo Team)

In the end the night passed as expected. The wind picked up speed, the sea swelled. The solo Figarists had no choice but to attentively and meanderingly find their way around the barely moonlit maze of islands of the Aegian.

The 20-25 knot winds and high waves amidst the islands confirmed the predictions. The sailors worked hard at sustaining control of their boats and keeping an eye on the leaders of the fleet.

The WOW Cap Istanbul fleet is advancing with a 9 knot speed. The distances between the boats are minimal. Francisco Lobato (Roff Tempo Team) is in the lead, north of him is François Gabart (Skipper Macif 2010). These two are not only fighting against each other, but also competing with Sébastien Josse (Vendée) and Nicolas Lunven (Generali).

The sun is about to rise on the Aegian. As the day gets brighter the fleet will evaluate their positions and devise new tactics for the hours ahead.

On attendait vingt voire vingt-cinq nouds, des effets venturi dans les goulets entre deux îles, une mer courte et cassante. Le menu a été conforme aux prévisions. A ce régime, les navigateurs ont dû batailler pour ne pas se faire broyer et garder le contact avec la tête de flotte.

Tous les solitaires avancent à plus de neuf nouds et les écarts restent faibles. Francisco Lobato en pointe et François Gabart (Skipper Macif 2010), légèrement dans son Nord, doivent repousser les assauts de Nicolas Lunven (Generali) et Sébastien Josse (Vendée) visiblement revenus à leur meilleur niveau. Le soleil commencer à se lever sur la mer Egée et devrait permettre aux concurrents de faire un état des lieux de leur position.
