The 'Future Hopes' selection took place this weekend in the bay of La Baule. Despite uncertain forecasts, the organisation committee of the APCC Voile Sportive was able to hold the racing and finish the event on the Saturday evening.

One team shone out from the rest, not losing a match in 10 races, with 10 wins! This made evident his selection for the French Championships for Match Racing 'Future Hopes'. It was Simon Troel with Nicolas Ploé, Alexandre Collinet and Valentin Beharel whose regular training paid off this Saturday, 2nd October.

Six teams were present, among which those of Nicolas Andrieux and Paul Cloarec who also succeeded in qualifying for the French Championships by finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Very changeable forecasts didn't discourage the 'Future Hopes' teams. In the morning there was rain and strong, and changeable in direction, winds. The relatively clement afternoon produced a distrubed sea and gusts with which the teams had to play to win. The 'Future Hopes' selection finished about 18h30. All the match racing was completed.

This selection - of the Atlantic area - had some good matches at a high level between Simon Troel and Paul Cloarec. The latter finished just one metre behind the former. These are two promising helmsmen to follow for the future racing.

The APCC Voile Sportive will next be active with the French 'Future Hopes' Match Racing Championships, expected to be 11-14 November in the Bay of La Baule.

The umpire team was led by François Farjaud and composed of Jean-Pierre Cordonnier, President of the APCC Voile Sportive, Christophe Schenfeigel, Loic Durand Raucher, Sylvie Harle and of Gérard Bossé.
