In the quarter-final races just completed in Marseille, southern France, Adam Minoprio and the BlackMatch Racing team defeated Ed Baird's Alinghi crew 3-2 to go through to the semi-finals of the Marseille International Match Race 2009.
This is a great victory for the BlackMatch Kiwi team, defeating the current America's Cup holders, and follows on from Emirates Team New Zealand's victory against Alinghi in Auckland in the final of the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series earlier this year.
Well done to BlackMatch Racing!
Others through to the semi-finals in Marseille are Torvar Mirsky, Mathieu Richard and Damien Iehl.
Mirsky defeated last year's Tour winner, Ian Williams, 3-0, Mathieu Richard won out 3-1 against Sebastien Col, and Damien Iehl also beat Paolo Cian 3-1.
