After just scraping through the round robin stage, Mirsky Racing Team was set the difficult task of defeating the reigning 2 time world champion Ian Williams of Bahrain Team Pindar in the first to 3 quarterfinal series. They managed to rise to the challenge, taking down Williams convincingly with 3 straight wins.

Although the race committee would have liked to get the semi-finals underway, the Marseilles winds died down early, leaving a lot of races unfinished. All that means for us is that we are going to have to deal with Mathiu Richard of Team French Spirit tomorrow as the event moves into its final stage.

“We are really happy with today’s result! Anybody in this field could win, and to defeat the current world champion feels great for our team. We came up against Richard at the Internationaux de France finals last year in the same boats and managed to come out on top, so hopefully we will be able to replicate that tomorrow, but Richard is in fine form so it is going to be a very tough task.”
