Adam Minoprio, David Swete, Tom Powrie and Nick Blackman have made it BlackMatch's fourth finals of the year on the 2009 World Match Racig Tour, defeating Switzerland's Eric Monnin 3-0 in the semis at the Argo Group Gold Cup in Bermuda. BlackMatch were runners-up at the Gold Cup in 2008. Ben Ainslie is currently 2-1 up against compatriot Ian Williams in the other semi-final.
The results in Bermuda mean that any of six teams could still take out the World Match Racing Tour Championships at the double point scoring final event, the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia in December. The top six on the World Tour scoreboard (as will remain the case at the end of the Argo Group Bermuda Gold Cup 2009) are now:
1st Adam Minoprio (NZL)
2nd Torvar Mirsky (AUS)
3rd Ian Williams (GBR)
4th Mathieu Richard (FRA)
5th Peter Gilmour (AUS)
6th Ben Ainslie (GBR)
Only BlackMatch will go forward to the final event with a points tally in three figures (100+).
The World Match Racing Tour this year will be decided between just four countries (New Zealand, Australia, the UK and France), with three representatives each from the Antipodes and Europe.
