LVT: Light winds postpone racing on day one of semi-finals

by Jennifer Hall

Another quiet day in Nice for Artemis as racing was postponed on day one of the Louis Vuitton Trophy - Nice semi-finals. The only match to take place was the first flight between Azzurra and TeamOrigin, which the Italians solidly won.

Today’s lone match began in winds between 8 and 10 knots from the north, but the velocity dropped to between 4 and 5 knots at the finish of the short, 5.2-nautical-mile race.

Racing will start slightly earlier tomorrow morning at 0830 with three matches scheduled. The first match will be between BMW Oracle and TFS-PagesJaunes, followed by Emirates Team New Zealand vs. Synergy Russian Sailing Team and then Artemis vs ALL4ONE. The first team to win two races will win the semi-finals.

Friday will be the final day of racing for Artemis, before most of the team heads to Dubai for the RC44 Gold Cup.
