Only one semi-final match of the Louis Vuitton Trophy was sailed at Nice on Thursday before the breeze died and racing was abandoned.
Crews waited about five hours before the race committee called it a day just after 3pm.
The breeze was failing even as the Italian team Azzurra crossed the finish line to beat TEAMORIGIN by 1min and 34sec.
In the afternoon the breeze swung to the east but it never got above five knots and Emirates Team New Zealand’s match against the Russian Team Synergy, the third race scheduled on Thursday, was abandoned.
Two races in the knockout competition for teams that did not make the top four in the round robins - BMWOracle v TFS-Pages Jaunes and Artemis v ALL4ONE – also did not start.
