LVT: ETNZ Go Without a Race on Day 12

by Warren Douglas

The breeze and gear problems again conspired against Emirates Team New Zealand on Day 12 of the Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta at La Maddalena, Italy.

Only two round robin matches were raced: Mascalzone Latino b TeamOrigin by 35s and All4One b Aleph by 15s.

Emirates Team New Zealand’s last round robin match against Mascalzone Latino (Italy) and the Artemis (Sweden) v All4One (France-Germany) were not sailed on Wednesday.

With the breeze sitting just under 20 knots, and with damage to the trim tab on ITA 90, race officials abandoned racing late in the afternoon.

They will now be first up on Thursday.

Race officials are reworking the programme for the last four days of the regatta.

A shortened quarter-final programme will be raced, followed by full semi-finals and finals. The regatta ends on Sunday.

Points at the end of Day 12:

Artemis 6 wins 2 losses, 6 points
All4One 5-3, 5
Emirates Team New Zealand 5-3, 5
Synergy 5-4, 5
Mascalzone Latino 6-2 (4 points, 1 point penalty for hard contact)
Azzurra 4-5, 4
TeamOrigin 4-5. 4
Luna Rossa 3-6, 3
