VOR: DELTA LLOYD LEG SEVEN DAY 4 QFB; received 19.05.09 0718 GMT

by Sander Pluijm

Still Foggy

Moist and cold. Due to the fog everything gets moist and wet. And when things get wet, they get colder.

According to Gerd-Jan Poortman, everyone is tip-toeing through the boat in a little dance, trying to keep their socks dry. When the mist went away for a few hours, the crew used the time to dry the boat and the gear. The crew is looking forward to the warmer water around the corner when we get closer to the Gulf Stream.

The day bag gave a little surprise today. Gabri (Gabriele Olivo) did it on Telefónica Blue so we brought a chunk of Parma cheese too. And Gabri, it was a success! But, first the scoring-gate.

Although our goal is to stay in front of Green Dragon and Telefónica Black we try to be the most southern boat. Main goal is a good position in the fleet at the ice gate when we start the crossing of the Atlantic. When we have to tack near the exclusion zone we will know if we made the right choice. Navigator Wouter Verbraak thinks the tactics work out well and should give us a good opportunity and gains.
