Light and shifty breezes, cloudy skies and drizzle characterized today’s racing in the Louis Vuitton Trophy – Nice Cote d’Azur.

Only two of the four scheduled regattas were held today due to continued light winds off the French Riviera: Team New Zealand (Barker) took a point over All4One (Col) and Artemis (Hutchinson) beat team French Spirit (Pace). Team Azzurra had a long wait until racing was finally abandoned at 2pm.

Francesco Bruni, helmsman of Italian team Azzurra commented on this second day “Unfortunately racing at this time of the year is a bit like going to Sicily to ski. You need to have patience in this sport and I’m sure that we will make up these regattas in the next few days. The important thing is to remain calm during these long waits.”

The organization has confirmed that it will try to hold the maximum number of match races possible tomorrow with four flights lined up. Azzurra will recuperate the match abandoned against BMW Oracle (Brady) in the first race of the day (start scheduled for 9 a.m.), then in flight four Azzurra will meet the Swedes of Artemis (Hutchinson). The third race scheduled for Azzurra will be against Emirates Team New Zealand (Barker).
