VOR: DELTA LLOYD LEG SEVEN DAY 2 QFB: received 17.05.09 2302 GMT

by Sander Pluijm

The next 24 hours will be interesting. Our main goal is to beat Telefónica Black and the Green Dragon at the scoring gate, that’s why we decided to take the more northerly course. More wind closer to shore.

We think there will be less breeze after the scoring gate so if we lose a little we aim to hook on to the fleet then. So main goal is the scoring gate and the whole crew is fighting for that.

Spirit is great after a fantastic day of champagne sailing. Temperatures are low and helmets are on but it’s nice sailing once the fog went away and the sun came. Champagne on the rocks as John Poortman calls it, of course the cold water in the face feels like little rocks or cubes of ice. All in all not a bad first day.
