Aon Racing had a great first semi-final race against Laurie Jury, extending to a fairly comfortable lead at the finish. Unfortunately Laurie then picked up his game, winning the second race and setting up a dramatic final race. In this race we had a thrilling pre-start, which ended with Laurie stuck to the pin and us doing 10 penalty turns to let him catch up. We then tried to clear our final penalty but were unable to, leaving us competing for 3rd place with Matthew Steven.
We then won our petit final 2-0 against Matty to wind up with a podium finish in the 2011 Detroit Cup. Congratulations to Jordan Reece (AUS) and team, who pipped Laurie 3-2 in the final. Next week the team is back in the big SM40 class for the Knickerbocker cup in New York.
