For the third consecutive year, the champions of sailing will be returning to La Grande Motte. The 22nd edition of the Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions will run from Thursday, 8th, to Sunday, 11th, September.
Michel Desjoyeaux, twice winner of the Vendée Globe, already "Champion of Champions" in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2007, will be present. He has recommenced an intensive campaign in the D35 catamaran this season.
Pascal Bidégorry, who holds records for crossing the Atlantic and the distance travelled in 24 hours on the giant trimaran Banque Populaire V, and finished third at La Grande Motte in 2010, looks for victory this year.

Aside from these two Frenchman who should direct the debate in the absence of the duelists Loïck Peyon and Franck Cammas - the first is engaged, at the same time, in England on the AC45 in preparation for the America's Cup and the second is in preparation for the Volvo Ocean Race, the team race around the world that leaves from Spain at the end of October - it is possible that the foreigner who has been invited will keep the French armada in order.
The Australian Darren Bundock arrives at La Grande Motte holder of two silver medals at the Olympic Games, won in the Tornado (Olympic catamaran) and no less than fourteen world titles obtained on catamarans.

Nicolas Charbonnier bronze medallist in the 470 at the Beijing Games will take part in the Trophée Clairefontaine for the fourth time.
Armel Le Cléac'h, twice winner of La Solitaire du Figaro (2003 and 2010) and second in the last Vendée Globe, has taken part in the Trophée Clairefontaine many times as a crew member and also as a champion last year. His seventh place in 2010 gave him taste for revenge in 2011.
François Gabart was a team member of Michel Desjoyeaux's last year. This year he comes titled as Champion de France de Course au Large en Solitaire. He campaigned a Tornado at the beginning of his career. He is expected to do well.
Jean-Pierre-Dick returns to the Trophée Clairefontaine this year, due to his second victory in the Barcelona World Race and his title of IMOCA Champion 2010. Jérémie Beyou, twice winner of La Solitaire du Figaro (2005 and 2011) will be at his side as "team member de luxe".

In regard to Roland Jourdain, he comes to La Grande Motte due to his two victories in la Route du Rhum in the IMOCA 60 monohull (2006 and 2010).
Since its origination, in 1990 and so for the twenty-second consecutive time, the Trophée Clairefontaine is the only event in the world that unites the champions from different international sailing disciplines, with rigorously equal weapons, on spectacular identical catamarans 7.65 metres long, constructed and used exclusively for this nautical show.

Pour la troisième année consécutive, les champions de voile effectueront leur rentrée à La Grande Motte. C'est en effet du jeudi 8 au dimanche 11 septembre 2011 que se courra la vingt-deuxième édition du Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions. Le super favori est Michel Desjoyeaux, déjà quatre fois vainqueur de la spécialité.

Michel Desjoyeaux, double vainqueur du Vendée Globe, déjà sacré "Champion des Champions" en 2001, 2003, 2004 et 2007 est affûté. Il a en effet repris la compétition intensive en catamaran D35 en début de saison.

Outre ces deux Français qui devraient diriger les débats en l'absence des duettistes Loïck Peyon et Franck Cammas - le premier est engagé au même moment en Angleterre sur le nouveau circuit de compétitions AC45 de préparation à l'America's Cup et le second est en préparation de la Volvo Ocean Race, la course autour du monde en équipage qui partira fin octobre d'Espagne - c'est bien l'invité étranger qui pourrait mettre l'armada française aux ordres.

Armel Le Cléac'h, double vainqueur de La Solitaire du Figaro (2003 et 2010) et deuxième du dernier Vendée Globe, a couru plusieurs fois le Trophée Clairefontaine comme équipier et l'an dernier comme champion. Sa place de septième en 2010 lui a donné le goût de la revanche pour l'édition 2011.
