Half of the TP52 teams at the Portugal Trophy are actively involved in the World Sailing Teams Association's Louis Vuitton Trophy regattas. Like the Louis Vuitton Trophy events, the Audi MedCup provides plenty of much-needed practice for large teams in an inshore racing setting, which makes it very useful for America's Cup teams to join the events.
Emirates Team New Zealand won Race 4 on Thursday off Cascais, followed by Quantum Racing (USA), Synergy (RUS), TEAMORIGIN 1851 (GBR) and Cristabella (GBR). This means that Quantum Racing currently leads the overall placings, with Synergy and Cristabella two points behind, and Emirates Team New Zealand and TEAMORIGIN 1851 one further point behind. With the top five teams all within a few points of each other, it's close at the top!
In Race 5, however, it's the Franco-German Audi A1 Team powered by ALL4ONE currently in the lead, followed by Artemis (SWE), TEAMORIGIN 1851 and Emirates Team New Zealand, as shown in the image at the top of this article.
