49er: Peter Burling & Blair Tuke
Peter Burling and Blair Tuke's NZL Sailing Team 49er campaign is getting busy again with their departure to Europe now a week away...
“Since our return from Miami in February, we had a bit of time off at our homes in Kerikeri and Tauranga … enjoying some cross training - Blair spear fishing/kayaking and Peter mastering the foiling Moth/ cycling. Our summer had been pretty full- on and our planned break was great.”
“Since then, our build-up has been based in Auckland including the recent New Zealand 49er champs where we won every race – it was great to have the national fleet of five boats to line up with and a huge variety of conditions from 25 plus knots on day one to the last race in about two knots.”
“It has been very useful to have some help in up-skilling from a few ex 49er sailors like Kevin Hall while we're in New Zealand.”
Next for the Olympic campaigners
Next up in the ISAF Sailing World Cup Series is 2010 Delta Lloyd Regatta which runs from 26th to 30th May, in Medemblik, The Netherlands.
New Zealand will be represented in the 49er class with Peter Burling and Blair Tuke competing, as well as one New Zealand boat in the Women’s Match Racing. Board sailors Jon-Paul Tobin and Natalia Kosinska will be in the Netherlands for this regatta too.
