Extreme 40s: Extreme 40 World Championships, Portorož, Slovenija 12-18 July

THE OCEAN RACING CLUB and TornadoSport are pleased to announce an addition to the Extreme 40 sailing calendar with the first ever Extreme 40 World Championships.

The Extreme 40 World Championships will be held at the The Ocean Racing Club located within the Kempinski Palace Hotel in Portorož, Slovenija from 12-18 July 2010.

The format of the event will be a series of windward /leeward courses and one coastal race. There is strong interest from the sailors in the fleet who have been looking forward to a longer course format where the Extreme 40 Cats can really stretch their legs.

“The Ocean Racing Club is proud to host the first ever edition of the Extreme 40 World championships in the beautiful bay of Portorož. We look forward to welcoming the Extreme 40 class” said Michael Reardon, Director of the The Ocean Racing Club.

“This will be the first time we have raced a full series on a longer course format with the Extreme 40 and we are really excited to do battle for the Title. Portorož has a perfect size bay for around 15 Extreme 40s with a fantastic coast line for a spectacular long distance race” says: Mitch Booth, Extreme 40 Skipper.
