Plagued by light winds over much of the five day series, 2010 Kiel Week Regatta for Olympic classes has wrapped up in Germany overnight.
Of the New Zealanders just Mike Bullot was on the water in the Laser class top ten medal race. He finished eighth in last night’s double points feature race which sees him finish in ninth place overall in the 118 strong fleet.
Bullot continues to return top ten results at the key international regattas and will now prepare for the next major event on the Olympic calendar – Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth, England.
Starting in early August Sail for Gold is the final regatta in the ISAF Sailing World Cup seven event series, and represents an opportunity for sailors to test the waters at the venue of the 2012 Olympic Sailing Regatta. A full complement of New Zealand’s campaigners will be on the starting line.
Samantha Osborne and crew finished the regatta on the penultimate day with a silver fleet win and 13th overall in the Women’s match race event.
Matt Coutts was 22nd in the Finn class.
