Good breezes of 12-14 knots and sunshine greeted competitors on Day 4 for the last flights of the round robin.
BlackMatch Racing (NZL) won their first two matches, but lost a third to a very on-form Mirsky Racing Team (AUS). The two wins were enough to ensure that the Kiwi World Champions qualified for the quaterfinals in the Portugal Match Cup 2010.
Torvar Mirsky is on top of the qualification list, with 9 wins and 2 losses in the round robin. Also going through are Peter Gilmour (AUS), Ian Williams (GBR), Francesco Bruni (ITA), Magnus Holmberg (SWE), current Tour leader Mathieu Richard (FRA), Manuel Weiller (ESP), with Adam Minoprio (NZL) and BlackMatch Racing completing the eight qualifiers.
In the last event of the 2009 World Match Racing Tour, BlackMatch Racing qualified in last place for the quarterfinals of the Monsoon Cup, and proceeded to win both the Monsoon Cup and the World Match Racing Championship in 2009. Let's see if they can achieve a repeat performance in Portugal in 2010!
