ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyeres : A day of forced rest for Groupama

As we feared yesterday evening, Sophie de Turckheim's physical condition meant that she wasn't able to sail today.

"Sophie got virtually no sleep last night, so painful was her backache. As such, going racing was out of the question today", Franck Cammas explained this morning.

Obviously disappointed by this withdrawal, the skipper of Groupama made the most of his time today to team up with the French Team's coach, Franck Citeau, to compete in two of today's three races, which were contested in a medium wind on pretty messy seas.

The author of three fine performances (3, 1 and 6), the crew formed by Billy Besson - Marie Riou have moved up a place in the overall standing, with just one team ahead of them now, Swiss crew Buhler - Brugger.

It now remains to be seen if this rest day will be enough to enable Sophie to sail tomorrow or if it would be better to remain on shore to benefit the healing process: "We certainly mustn't take any risks, but it's also a shame not to make the most of these races to make progress," Franck Cammas concludes.
Until tomorrow then, for the next stage in proceedings.

Provisional overall standing:
1/ Buhler-Brugger (SUI): 20 points
2/ Besson - Riou (FRA): 24 points
3/ Shuwalow-Klinga (SWE): 29 points
4/ Saxton-Diamond (GBR): 32 points
5/ Groeneveld-Begemann (NED): 33 points
6/ Vaireaux-Audinet (FRA): 33 points
7/ Ogereau-Vandame (FRA): 39 points
