by Aleph Sailing Team media (in translation by SailRaceWin)

Russell Coutts, CEO of the American syndicate BMW ORACLE, winners of the 33rd America's Cup, presented the new rules and context of the 34th edition. It will be in 2013 in 72 foot multihulls with wingmast that the best teams in the world will try to seize the most ancient (sporting) trophy in the world. Officially supported by the Fédération Française de Voile, the Aleph Project, led by Bertrand Pacé and Philippe Ligot presents its ambitions.

For Bertrand Pacé, skipper and assistant Director General of the French challenger for the America’s Cup, engaged in the 6 last editions of the AC:" It is superb timing for our country that is very much engaged in all the domains of the multihull and aeronautics. The architects, engineers and French flight are the originators of most of the innovations and developments in these domains. The ORMA 60 trimarans, to the maxi catamarans - possessors of the long-distance records, and with catamarans from The Race to the Hydrofoil, the French are unquestionably the best at multis. The American boat, conqueror of the last America’s Cup, was also conceived in one summer largely by the French. Our wish is to combine the best architect teams and the best possible sportsmen. We want to federate the three-colored talents of the regatta and race well, while going through the match racing and the Olympic part of the sport. Competence, talent and team spirit will be the criteria that will dictate our choice for those on board."

» It's a really unique opportunity. » Commented Philippe Ligot, Director General of the French Challenger for the America’s Cup. » Our team has been working for months on constructing a seductive project for our future sponsorship partners. The Defender has presented us with further hope. Incredible boats, a dozen teams going for the America’s Cup, the world's sailing stars, the means of retransmission of the point of innovation, solid media output for the duration and a high level of management. These ingredients offer, from 2011 and carrying on for three years, an exceptional exposition to our future partner-sponsors. It is they whom we must convince in the first instance, as soon as possible. They will benefit from the name of the team and will write, without doubt, one of the best pages of history in sport. In the presence of Jean-Pierre Champion, Président of the Fédération Française de Voile, we will present the tricolour project and its ambitions at a press conference in Paris on 30th September 2010. «

The tricolor crew led by Bertrand Pacé has distinguished itself in the past season in the Louis Vuitton Trophy in imposing itself against the New Zealand team in Auckland and in Sardinia against BMW-ORACLE, the current Defender of the America’s Cup.

In French:
