From the first edition of the Route du Rhum, Brittany Ferries has been present at the side of the organiser Michel Etevenon and the town of Saint-Malo at the spart of the Route du Rhum.
For the 2010 edition, Brittany Ferries decided to become an official supplier to the race La Route du Rhum - La Banque Postale.
The company will therefore have a higher presence than ever at the start on 31st October at Saint-Malo and the start of this race will be made from on board their ferry the 'PONT AVEN'. Three of their ferries will be at hand for this event: the 'PONT AVEN', the 'BRETAGNE' and the 'NORMANDIE EXPRESS'.
The major shareholders (agricultural co-operative) of Brittany Ferries, having invested a year ago in a 50 foot trimaran, the 'PRINCE OF BRITTANY', decided to charter a ferry to follow the departure of their boat skipered by Lionel Lemonchois as closely as possible.
Created in 1972, Brittany Ferries, considered by many as an impossible wager, has now for 37 years imposed itself on a difficult market, and developed the cross-Channel market in the west and central regions.
This success is primarily the result of the will and tenacity of the shareholders (71% of the capital is held by the farmers), and of the management and personnel of the business. Thanks also to the support of our regional partners, the permanence of the business was assured and thus the regions that we serve, Brittany and Low Normandy, were able in to acquire important benefits in terms of direct and indeirect employment.

Dès la première édition de la Route du Rhum, Brittany Ferries a été présente aux côtés de l'organisateur Michel Etevenon et de la Ville de Saint-Malo au départ de la Route du Rhum.
Pour l'édition 2010, Brittany Ferries a décidé d'être fournisseur officiel de la course La Route du Rhum - La Banque Postale.
La Compagnie sera donc plus que jamais présente au départ le 31 octobre 2010 à Saint-Malo et le départ de cette prestigieuse course sera donné à bord de son navire amiral le ‘PONT AVEN'. Trois de ses navires seront mobilisés pour cet événement : le ‘PONT AVEN' – le ‘BRETAGNE' – le ‘NORMANDIE EXPRESS'.
Les actionnaires majoritaires (coopératives agricoles) de Brittany Ferries, ayant investi il y a un an dans un trimaran 50 pieds, le ‘PRINCE DE BRETAGNE', ont décidé d'affréter un ferry pour suivre au plus près le départ de leur bateau skippé par Lionel Lemonchois.
Créée en 1972, Brittany Ferries, considérée par beaucoup comme un pari impossible, a su depuis 37 ans s'imposer sur un marché difficile, se développer sur le marché transmanche ouest et central.
Cette réussite est d'abord le résultat de la volonté et de la ténacité des actionnaires (71% du capital est détenu par les agriculteurs), de la direction et du personnel de l'entreprise. Grâce également au soutien de nos partenaires régionaux, la pérennité de l'entreprise a été assurée et ainsi les régions que nous desservons, Bretagne et Basse-Normandie, ont pu en recueillir des bénéfices importants en termes d'emploi direct et indirect.
