It is not a been a week lacking week issues, but what counts is that the Mascalzone Latino Team showed itself still to be a strong crew, capable of running in the first line also in the middle of a dense fleet of champions like that of this first RC44 Worlds, that saw thirteen crews from different countries competing.
A crew, compared with the previous stage of Valencia, with of the new connections, plus the whims of the weather and the few miles sailed together were not elements that favored good results. Apart from a couple of mistakes and with a little more luck with the wind Mascalzone Latino would have recorded a listing in the fleet racing.
But, ultimately, we do not complain. It is only two months ago that the Mascalzone Latino Team had begun to sail the RC44 again, one of the most competitive classes, technologies and athletics of the moment, after a year of few regattas in one design classes.

A first and a second in these ten fleet races, deserved from the first metres thanks to the experience at the helm of Vincenzo Onorato, and the tactics of one Francesco Bruni, and testament to the calibre of the sailors on board, showed a considerable improvement (ninth overall) with respect to the summer regatta in Valencia, where Mascalzone Latino had finshed eleventh, in the minor placings.

Non è una stata una settimana priva di sbavature, ma quello che conta è che il Mascalzone Latino Audi Team ha dimostrato di essere ancora un equipaggio forte, capace di correre nelle prime fila anche in mezzo a una flotta impegnativa e densa di campioni come quella di questo primo mondiale RC44, che ha visto tredici equipaggi provenienti da diversi Paesi.
Un equipaggio, rispetto alla tappa precedente di Valencia, con dei nuovi innesti, le bizze meteorologiche e le poche miglia navigate insieme non sono stati elementi che hanno favorito la costanza delle prestazioni. Un paio di errori in meno e un pò più di fortuna con il vento avrebbero registrato una classifica nelle regate di flotta nettamente diversa.

Ma, in fondo, non ci si può affatto lamentare. Solo due mesi fa i Mascalzoni avevano ricominciato a navigare sull'RC44, una delle classi più competitive, tecniche e atletiche del momento, provenendo da un'annata di pochissime regate nelle classi one-design.
Un primo e un secondo in queste dieci regate di flotta, meritatissimi sin dai primi metri grazie all'esperienza al timone di Vincenzo Onorato, alla tattica di Francesco Bruni, e al calibro dei velisti a bordo, mostrano una crescita notevole rispetto all'appuntamento estivo di Valencia, dove i Mascalzoni avevano concluso undicesimi a seguito di prestazioni di minor rilevanza.
