Weather 'Not OK' for OK Worlds in Wellington

'Not OK' weather in Wellington: a big southerly hits the venue. Supplied image.

Sunday 31st January, registration took place for the OK Nationals and Interdominions, with the first day’s racing due tomorrow – although the forecast for Day 1 does not look good. Thankfully, the long range forecast is much, much better.

The Wellington welcome from the weather Gods was strong southerlies, constant rain and temperatures of only 15C. The wind saw off the temporary fencing and signage erected at the boat park – sand bags had to be brought in to save the day.

Registration and the Briefing went smoothly, seeing the first ‘in situ’ long day for the race organisers and volunteers. A decision as to whether sailing will take place on Day 1 of the Nationals and Interdominions will be made first thing in the morning.

In the meantime, the bar at RPNYC is doing a steady trade with friendships being renewed and new associations being formed, whilst the Race Officers finalise details and ensure that all ‘I’s are dotted and all ‘T’s are crossed.
