Warren Jones: Strong Start for FMJ Racing

by Will Tiller

After a short summer break Full Metal Jacket Racing is back in Perth to defend their title at the Warren Jones Regatta. The team started well, winning 6 out of 8 races to be placed second after the first day. The boys were sailing fast with smooth boat handling, however, some poor tactical decisions led to losses to local hero David Gilmour, and the world champion 18ft skiff sailor, Seve Jarvin.

The team is settling back into it's normal configuration after Harry Thurston helmed to a credible 4th place in the Colin Mullins regatta, narrowly losing the semi-final 3-2 to Evan Walker, the eventual winner.

For those that wish to follow the racing, live radio commentary and results are available at http://www.warrenjonesregatta.org.au/

We would like to thank our sponsors, Chris Meads of Full Metal Jacket and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for their support.

FMJ Racing is William Tiller, Adrian Short, Harry Thurston, Jono Spurdle and Shaun Mason.
