Hansen Sailing Team faced Stena Sailing Team with skipper Johnie
Berntsson in the final of the GKSS Ice Breaker Cup this weekend, this
season’s first showdown between the Swedish rivals. Hansen Sailing Team
won two tight matches in the final and won the regatta while Victor
Ogeman and his Team Accure claimed third place after beating Staffan
Lindberg in the petite finale.

“We didn’t feel a hundred percent out on the water and we still have
things we need to work on after this long winter break but it’s the same
for everybody else. The four teams that made it to the semi finals were
pretty even and we are glad we made it all the way to the top. It was
good practice for us and it’s always better to do real racing instead of
training, because you don’t want to give away anything for free”, says
Björn Hansen.

“It’s been a good exercise for the whole team and it feels great that
the season has started. We had good matches against Björn Hansen but we
are not satisfied with the result, of course we wanted to win. We have
worked a lot on our communication in the team and we have come a long
way, even if there still is some fine tuning left to do. We want to make
more decisions earlier when we sail so we can avoid mistakes and panic
decisions. Also, our starts have been working well this weekend and I
think we have found a good procedure that we will take with us from this
regatta”, says Johnie Berntsson
