The C-Class Catamaran is a high-performance development class sailing catamaran. They are very light boats which use rigid wing sails and can sail at twice the speed of the wind.

The Championship, also known as the Little America's Cup, consists of a programme of fleet racing, with 3 races each day for three days, followed by a match race series between the first and second placed in the fleet racing. The Defender does not automatically qualify for the match racing. Races are held in winds of up to, but not exceeding, 20 knots.

This year, the event is organizsed by Restronguet Sailing Club in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. It will take place from 22nd to 28th September. In addition to Challenge France, with Patient Lady VI, led by Benjamin Muyl, Franck Cammas will lead a Groupama team in this year's event. Teams are also expected from Challenge Italia (Roberto Gripi), Team Hydros C Class Sailing (Switzerland), USA (Steve Clark, Aethon & Cogito), Canada (reigning champion, Fred Eaton), Team Invictus UK, Hungary, and Portugal.
