Match Race Open de Espana, Calpe - WMRT Qualifier

Open de España will be honoured with the presence of high level participants, being four of them within the Top Ten Match Racing Ranking list.

Real Club Náutico Calpe will hold from the 3rd until the 14th of May, two Match Race international events: “VIII Open de España de Match Race” and “XIII Criterium Internacional Femenino”. Both regattas are qualified by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) as Grade 1, being the sole yacht club in Europe that organise two Grade 1 events, one for men and another for women, with the highest qualification given by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).

VIII Open de España de Match Race that will take place in Calpe (Alicante-Spain) from the 3rd until the 7th of May, will join the best sailors of the World Match Race Ranking, counting with the presence of Ian Williams and Björn Hansen, placed fifth and sixth in the World Match Race Ranking, and the Spanish skipper Manu Weiller.

XIII Criterium Internacional Femenino that will start on May, the 4th and will last until the 8th, is considered as the best event in the Match Race international circuit.

This discipline of women competition has been classified as Olympic Sport.

Therefore, all the participants will work for achieving enough position to join the Olympics Games that will be held in London in 2012.

El Open de España contará con participantes de alto nivel, estando cuatro de ellos clasificados entre los diez primeros del Ranking Mundial Match Race.

El Real Club Náutico Calpe organiza del 3 al 14 de mayo las regatas internacionales de Match Race: el VIII Open de España de Match Race y el XIII Criterium Internacional Femenino. Dos regatas calificadas por la Federación Internacional de Vela (ISAF) como Grado 1, máxima calificación, convirtiendo al R.C.N.Calpe en el único club del mundo que organiza dos regatas de Match Race, una de categoría femenina y otra masculina con el máximo reconocimiento de la Federación Internacional.

El VIII Open de España de Match Race que tendrá lugar del 3 al 7 de mayo, convoca a los mejores regatistas del Ranking internacional, destacando la asistencia Ian Williams y Björn Hansen, quinto y sexto del Ranking Mundial, y la presencia del español Manu Weiller.

El XIII Criterium Internacional Femenino que se celebrará del 10 al 14 de mayo, está considerado como la mejor prueba del circuito mundial. Esta modalidad de competición femenina ha obtenido la calificación de Deporte Olímpico. Todos los equipos participantes trabajan para conseguir la clasificación para acudir a las Olimpiadas que se celebrarán en Londres en el 2012.
