Bay of Islands Sailing Week to host IRC Nationals

by Zoe Hawkins

The ninth annual Bay of Islands Sailing Week will be held 18th to 21st of January 2011. Set in the ‘sunny north’ the regatta promises three days of enthusiastic racing with the chance to catch up and spin some yarns with friends, family and maybe even the odd foe!

The regatta has grown considerably since its inception in 2003 when there were just four start divisions. Next year will see eleven division starts including the Flying Fifteen’s, Elliott 5.9’s, 12 and 18 foot skiff classes. The IRC Nationals will also be held as part of the event.

Live music will once again feature in the off-water entertainment and with a brand new sponsor supporting the regatta, ‘Steinlager Pure’ we will look forward to partaking in the sponsors finest at the end of the days racing.

Party day will once again be Thursday following a day of racing. The “CRC Beach Party on the Wharf” will have free tasty appetisers for one hour, and live music – so bring along your family and supporters too, for what promises to be a fun-filled evening.

Accommodation, while plentiful and with a range of options, is best booked ahead, to ensure your place of choice.

Registration is January 18, 2011, 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs.
