WOW Cap Istanbul: The Wind Rises

As foreseen, the wind has finally become established from east-southeast. In the area of the island of San Pietro, the fleet has had to tack to pass the point of Sardinia. The wind, which got up quite rapidly, has enabled the sailors to leave helming to the autopilot, and get some rest

The thrill of sailing has come back to WOW Cap Istanbul. Smooth surfing of the first night had left its place to a gruelling sail in almost zero wind last night. The wind first came from the southeast at late night - early morning, then shifted to an eastern direction, where the sailors are headed. Even though close-hauled sail in a windward direction can be troublesome, the possibility of using auto-pilot is finally giving them a much needed opportunity to sleep after two nights of wakefulness. Gildas Morvan (Cercle Vert) and Eric Péron (Macif) are sailing at the southern edge of the fleet. Francisco Lobato (Roff Tempo Team) is leading the group coming from the north. Fabien Delahaye's (Port de Caen Ouistreham) attack from this group is notable. As the fleet tries to keep Toro Island (30 miles off) on their port-side, the lights of Sardinia are shining for the sailors far away in the dark.
