On a wind-still morning in the tranquility of Zighy Bay, the crews of Sailing Arabia-the Tour gathered for a presentation and prize giving, hosted by Six Senses Zighy Bay. Team New Caledonia were awarded first prize for the shortened leg from Ras Al Khaimah that finished in Zighy bay the morning before.

Team Commercialbank came third with Renaissance third. Team Ras Al Khaimah was awarded the Zighy Bay prize of a night’s stay for the crew.

During the reception, Monica Majors, Zighy Bay Brand Champion, commented:
'Sailing is an environmentally friendly sport, with no engines to disrupt the peace; even Zighy Bay seemed tranquil to them after the solace of the open water. This is what we strive for here in Six Senses Zighy Bay, a totally relaxing environment. We are very happy to host the sailors on their fifth stopover of the tour, and a warm welcome back to Oman. Sailing, in conjunction with this prestigious event, is a proud element of our country’s rich maritime heritage and it is great to see the sailing teams draw a beautiful view along the stunning scenery of Zighy bay Musandam. This truly epitomizes our SLOW LIFE philosophy.’

After the presentation, and a freshly cooked meal of grilled local food and delicacies, the crews stepped onto their boats to do a demonstration sail. They hoisted their sails and did a sail-past of the resort and it’s clean beach that stretches from the marina at one end to the resort at the other end.

The teams set sail today along the beautiful coast of Oman heading towards Musannah sports city where they will rest for a day before they head to their final stopover in The Wave, Muscat on 13th February 2011.
