Black Sheep Boat Before Bermuda

Black Sheep has had a short break in recent weeks since competing in the Hahn River International Match Race of which we won. In this time there has been a new release of ISAF Match race rankings. This saw us move up four places from 18th to 14th.
The last few days we spent in New York, preparing for our next regatta, The Argo Group Bermuda Gold Cup. The boats that we will be sailing in Bermuda are the International One Design (IOD), they are very different to the type of boats we usually sail. The IOD is a classic style yacht with long keel originally designed in 1936. This training has been very useful to familiarize ourselves with this unique type of boat. We are hoping this gives us an edge on the competition as we need to come out strong in the first race in order to progress as half of the 24 teams will be sent home after seven races.
We would like to thank Sue Miller for kindly lending us her car over the past few days and John McNamara for the use of his IOD. As always we thank family, friends, supporters and The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for their continued support. Special thanks to our New York mum Bonnie Doran who has accommodated us on numerous occasions.
Black Sheep Racing is Brad Farrand, Reuben Corbett, Tom Bentham and Nicolas Derberque.
