In our second regatta of the 2011 Tour, we are sitting at 4 wins and 4 losses.
The competition has been really tight with the majority of teams with a 4-4 scorecard. With only 3 races left in the round robin to find the top 4 teams to advance to the semi final todays racing will definitely be tight.
After a slow first day where we only managed to notch up 1 win out of 4 races we were able to come out on day 2 to significantly improve our scorecard and win 3 out of our 4 races.
The highlight race so far has been against double World Match Racing Champion Ian Williams of Great Britain. We started ahead of Williams and maintained our lead for the first 2 legs before Williams made a pass on the second upwind in a variable 5knot breeze. On the final downwind we managed to stay in pressure and gybe into the finish and clinch the victory by only 1 foot.
The race win against Williams got the ball rolling and we then went on to beat Tour Card Holder Phil Robertson of Waka Racing and Steffan Lindberg of Finland.
With only Keith Swinton, Simon Ferrase and Manu Weiller left in the round, we will need a good day if we want to progress to the next stage of competition.
KA Match this week is Evan Walker Helm, Kyle Langford Tactics, Will Ryan Trim, Tom Scardifield Bow.
KA Match would like to thank the CYCA for their ongoing support.
