As predicted, the coastal course contested offshore of Camaret proved to be as intense as it was windy. Still on a roll, Groupama 34 secured a win ahead of Sodebo and Courrier Dunkerque, further extending its lead in the overall ranking.

With a slightly modified crew in relation to previous days, so as to get themselves into race format for the upcoming Tour de France à la Voile, Franck Cammas didn't give any quarter on the windy course.

Author of a good start, which hasn't been the case up till now, Groupama 34 rounded the windward mark in second position behind Dunkerque. Linking onto a reaching section, during which the crew from Lorient reaped the benefits of its numerous days of training, they overtook Souben's band of men.

During the downwind sections under large spinnaker with the wind increasing to 30 knots in a squall, Groupama 34 opened up her lead until an involuntary broach halted progress: "It was pretty full-on as there were quite big seas. At one point we made a slight mistake and the penalty was immediate. Sodebo made the most of the opportunity to overtake us," explained Tanguy Cariou.

Most likely annoyed by this misfortune, the crew dug deep and put its training sessions to good use once more by performing a perfect manoeuvre, replacing the large spinnaker with the small one and switching its focus to the front of the fleet again.

On the finish line, there were four boat lengths separating Groupama 34, the winner, and Sodebo in second place. They were followed by Courrier Dunkerque, which completes the podium, reinforcing the domination by this hellish top trio.

Finally it's worth noting the damaged mainsail on Ile de France, which wasn't able to repeat its great performance of previous days as a result.
