The only double penalty over the weekend was earned by Durant (gray kite) on this port enter into the leeward mark vs Bennett (red kite). Image copyright Summer Greene.

Undefeated in the round robin, while his closest rivals, Bennett and Durant, both had two loses, he was equally as convincing in the semi-finals (2-0 over John Horsch) and Finals (2-0 over Shawn Bennett). Durant had defeated Bennett in their round robin match, so lay second after the round robin.

However, the San Diego YC's event unner-up was Shawn Bennett, had imposed in exactly the same manner as Nevin Snow at his own home club, St Francis YC, two weekends earlier. Bennett dropped matches to Snow and Durant in the round robin at San Diego YC, before going on to a 2-0 semi-final win over Dustin Durant, and a 2-0 loss to Nevin Snow in the final.

Results from San Diego YC

1 Nevin Snow
2 Shawn Bennett
3 Dustin Durant
4 John Horsch
5 Bruce Stone
6 Dillon Lancaster
7 Joe Markee
8 David Storrs

Combining the three weekends' results, for selection for the Ficker Cup match racing from this Thursday, Shawn Bennett, by winning the first weekend, not competing at Long Beach YC, but then finishing second at San Diego YC, came out on top. However, it turns out that he has a prior commitment, and is unable to compete in the Ficker Cup from this Thursday. Next choice, John Horsch, was already entered in the Ficker Cup (as with the first and second skippers from the Long Beach YC weekend's match racing), so Dustin Durant has been offered, and accepted, the invitation to compete at the Ficker Cup for entry to the Congressional Cup.
